Abstract
Recently, an editorial in ACS Catalysis entitled ‘nano-apples and orange-zymes’ questioned whether or not the term “nanozyme” was appropriate [1]. When a new term in science is coined, scrutiny ensures that only truly valuable ideas emerge to advance our knowledge. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of nanozymes, the exact meaning of the term is not always obvious. As researchers who have been advocating nanozymes, we’d like to offer our insights, clarify some critical issues, and promote deeper thinking in this field.
