Research Assistant positions- Protein Science/Structural Virology Beijing, China
Research assistant positions are available for structural/molecular biologists in Dr. Zene Matsuda’s group in the China-Japan Joint Laboratory of Structural Virology and Immunology (LSVI). LSVI has been established in the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo in 2006.
Main research at LSVI is focused on the structural and functional analyses of proteins of primate lentiviruses (Gag, Env and Vpr/x of HIV or SIV) and protein engineering. Candidates are expected to hold a master or higher degree in the fields of protein science/molecular biology. The knowledge of virology or medical science is appreciated but not prerequisite. Previous experience in protein engineering, purification and structural analysis is desirable. Successful candidates should be proficient in both English and Chinese communication. The appointment is project-based, it can be started from April 2008 and extended till the end of March 2010 with an annual renewal. Salaries will be adjusted according to the candidate’s experience and performance.
